About the Author

I don't consider myself a technology guru by any means but I've been in the IT sector as both a Software Engineer and IT Analyst for well over 20 years.

My technical career began in the early 80's as a COBOL developer using AT&T Version 5 Unix. From there I moved on to several different *NIX flavors such as HP/UX, DG/UX, and SCO XENIX finally ending up in AIX for a number of years. While at IBM I picked up OS/2, C and Java. And it was there that I was introduced to Windows 95. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. But over a period of a couple of years I gradually moved out of the *NIX world and migrated to Windows 2000 eventually ending up with Windows 2000, XP, and coding in VB.NET.

These days I'm an IT Analyst working for one of the top Consulting firms in the midwest.

While I'm addicted to most things technical such as coding (which I still do for fun and occasional profit), the latest gadgets, and tinkering on my PC's, I'm also hooked on hard Sci-Fi, Independent Film and digital art. Spending time with my family and friends is also very important to me. Most nights you can find me out at a local restaurant or pub, working on personal projects such as techlozenge, watching movies, or just hiding somewhere with a good book.

Techlozenge is borne out of my desire to share what I've learned (and what I'm still learning) in the hopes it will make other peoples experiences with technology a little less taxing.
